I Am Me: Inspired by Virginia Satir

I Am Me: Inspired by Virginia Satir

A Poem for Personal Empowerment

There is no one else in the world quite like me.
There never has been, and there never will be.

I am a unique expression of life –

With my own thoughts, feelings, dreams, and stories.
I see the world through eyes only I possess.
I feel deeply in ways that are mine alone.

I do not have to be like others to have worth.
I do not need permission to exist or to matter.
I was born with value-

Not because of what I do, but because I am.

I am the author of my inner world.
I may have been shaped by others

Parents, teachers, lovers, friends

But I am not defined by their opinions or expectations.

I am free to change, to grow, to expand.
I am free to stumble and to rise again.
I claim the right to feel, to choose, to speak, to dream.

I will not trade authenticity for acceptance

I do not need to shrink to fit anyone’s comfort.
I am learning to belong first and foremost to myself.

I am me.
And that is enough.
That is everything.

Reflection Prompts Inspired by ‘I Am Me’

Reflection Prompts

1. What makes me uniquely me?
2. Where in my life have I been trying to conform or please others?
3. What parts of myself have I hidden or dismissed to gain approval or avoid rejection?
4. If I fully accepted that I am “enough,” how would my life look different?
5. What does it mean to belong to myself first?
